Dr Ciarán Reilly is an historian of nineteenth and twentieth century Irish social history at Maynooth University with a special interest in the Great Irish Famine and the Irish diaspora. Recognised as an International expert on the Great Irish Famine, Dr Reilly’s publications relevant to the Famine and emigration include: Strokestown and the Great Irish Famine (Dublin, 2014); The Irish Land Agent, 1830-1860: the case of King's County (Dublin, 2014); John Plunket Joly and the Great Famine in King’s County (Dublin, 2012) and The Famine Irish: Emigration and the Great Hunger (Dublin, 2016). His international recognition as a scholar of nineteenth and twentieth century Irish history has attracted considerable interest from a host of media including television, print and radio.
